Hydro balls

This is the drainage and consists of clay LECA balls. Water will move through the substarte and collect here. This layer has the purpose of preventing water from saturating the substrate layer, maintaining a stable humidity level within the enclosure and providing a habitat for the microfauna.

Drainage Mesh

This is the physical divider between the hydro balls and the substrate. It prevents the soil from falling through to the hydroballs.

Substrate

This is the soil of the vivarium and is made up of a mix of organic soil and other ingredients to provide a growing space for the viv arium plants and a safe habiatat for the microfauna.

Leaf litter

Leaf litter covers the soil and provides a habitat and a source of food for the micro fauna. This leaf litter is broken down ove time and provides nutrients to the plants.

Plants

Various plants can be used and depend on the type of animals your are keeping. Examples are Dracaena spp, Sansaveira spp, Pothos spp, Philidendron and Ficus spp.

Lighting

This consists of full spectrum LED’S which provide extra light for the plants in the vivarium
